Slayer (Kiersten White) Books in Order

Kiersten White's Slayer series takes place in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it follows a new heroine rather than Buffy Summers. Nina and her twin sister Artemis were raised at the Watcher's Academy, where they were expected to study demon lore, train future Slayers, and stay firmly in the background.

Then the rules change.

In Slayer, Nina unexpectedly develops Slayer powers after the old Watchers' Council falls. She has strength, speed, and instincts she never asked for, along with the sudden responsibility of fighting monsters. Artemis had always been the more obvious candidate for action, so Nina's new role strains the sisters' close relationship and forces both of them to reconsider who they are.

Nina's story begins at the Watchers' castle in Ireland, where young Watchers have been trained to serve Slayers from a safe distance. The setting gives the books a built-in tension between old traditions and the people hurt by them. Nina is not willing to accept every lesson she was taught, especially when demons and other outsiders are treated as enemies by default.

The series has the banter, supernatural danger, messy relationships, and emotional fallout that readers expect from the Buffyverse. But it also asks what being chosen means when the person with power did not ask for it, and when the systems built around that power have caused harm. Nina must work out how to use her abilities without becoming another version of the institution that raised her.

Being chosen is only the beginning.

Chosen continues Nina's story after she has tried to make the Watchers' castle a safer place for demons who need refuge. That plan is not easy to maintain. Her Slayer abilities feel wrong, her family life remains complicated, and a new threat connects to both an outside demon operation and dangers closer to home.

These are fast, character-focused supernatural adventures. Familiar Buffy characters and history are part of the world, but Nina's choices drive the plot, so newcomers can follow the emotional stakes. Read Slayer first and then Chosen, which completes the two-book series.
