Camelot Rising is Kiersten White's three-book reimagining of Arthurian legend, told from the point of view of Guinevere. It begins with The Guinevere Deception, when Guinevere travels to Camelot to marry the young King Arthur and help build the kingdom he dreams of. But almost immediately, she realizes that the court is full of hidden motives, old magic, and people who are not quite what they claim to be.

Guinevere has secrets of her own. She was sent to Camelot by Merlin, and her place in the story is much more complicated than that of the famous queen waiting at Arthur's side. As she learns who she is and what she can do, she must decide whether she can trust the people who shaped her life, including Merlin himself.

This is a Camelot with tournaments, court politics, dangerous forests, mysterious knights, and magic that does not always behave. Arthur is kind and determined, but he is also trying to hold together a fragile new kingdom. Guinevere's growing feelings for the knight Brangien and for others around her make the court's rules, and her own promises, harder to navigate.

The story gets bigger in The Camelot Betrayal. Guinevere faces the consequences of what she has learned about herself while Camelot confronts threats from both inside and outside its walls. The series is interested in the cost of progress. A better kingdom sounds simple until someone has to decide who gets protected, who gets power, and what sacrifices are acceptable.

Nothing about Camelot is settled.

By The Excalibur Curse, Guinevere has been separated from the life she knew and must face questions that have followed her from the beginning. The trilogy keeps the familiar names from Arthurian myth, but it is not a straight retelling. It shifts the focus toward Guinevere's choices, her friendships, and her right to define herself rather than be defined by a prophecy, a king, or a magician.

Expect romantic fantasy with a mystery running underneath it. There are betrayals, shifting loyalties, tender relationships, and plenty of questions about identity. The books work best in order, since each one builds on revelations and changes from the one before it.
