When an operation ends with a gunshot wound, a missing partner, and a cover story that could tank her reputation, Xavier storms back into her life determined to help whether she wants him there or not.

The sequel leans into second chance romance as much as it does suspense. Waverly has to decide whether she can trust the man who once broke her heart, and Xavier has to confront the ways his earlier protection crossed lines. Together they chase down conspirators, clear her name, and try to build something new out of a history full of both tenderness and hurt. It is a duology for readers who like their bodyguard trope extra complicated and do not mind a little adrenaline with their happy ending.
