Series background & context

Blue Moon Bend is famously the “nosiest small town in upstate New York,” and Lucy Score spends eight books proving that reputation accurate. The Blue Moon series leans hard into meddling neighbors, town committees that think nothing of interfering, and a Pierce family tree that seems to touch every corner of the community. Underneath the jokes is a sincere look at people who choose each other, over and over, even when life gets messy.

Everything starts with No More Secrets. Former Army Ranger Carter Pierce comes home scarred and exhausted, wanting nothing more than to run his organic farm in peace. Instead he ends up the subject of a magazine profile written by Summer Lentz, a big city journalist whose curiosity and optimism refuse to let him hide. Their story explores trauma, privacy, and the way one stubborn person can coax another toward the light.

Fall Into Temptation follows mayor Beckett Pierce and single mom Gianna Decker. She arrives in town with two kids, a yoga studio she is determined to make work, and zero time for romance. Beckett is landlord, neighbor, and local golden boy, which would be more than enough complication even without the small town Beautification Committee sticking its matchmaking nose into their business.

In The Last Second Chance cowgirl Joey Greer is focused on running her family’s horse farm, not on forgiving Jackson Pierce, the high school sweetheart who left for Hollywood and never looked back. His return to Blue Moon turns into a crash course in apologies, stubbornness, and deciding whether first love deserves a do over. Later books such as Not Part of the Plan, Holding on to Chaos, and The Fine Art of Faking It continue to pair strong women with men who are trying, and sometimes failing, to get out of their own way.

Where It All Began steps back in time to show how the Pierce family’s roots in Blue Moon were planted, while The Mistletoe Kisser brings the series into holiday rom com territory. In that one a grumpy former accountant is dragged to town to check on an elderly relative and ends up snowed under by solstice festivals, runaway sheep, and the local veterinarian who once shared his very first kiss.

Readers who enjoy this world tend to love the ongoing sense of community. Kids grow up from book to book, side characters get their own subplots, and there is always another festival, fundraiser, or town wide emergency for everyone to rally around. The books are written so you can dip in almost anywhere, but starting with No More Secrets and moving in order lets every emotional beat land just a little harder.
