Series background & context

The Knockemout series is Lucy Score’s big, brawling love letter to small town chaos. All three books are set in Knockemout, Virginia, a place where bar fights and bake sales share the same calendar and the town coffee shop knows everyone’s secrets. At the heart of the trilogy are three men who grew up there, the Morgan brothers, and the women who upend their carefully defended lives.

Things We Never Got Over kicks everything off when runaway bride Naomi Witt rolls into town to rescue her estranged twin and instead ends up stranded with an eleven year old niece she never knew existed. Grumpy barber and bar owner Knox Morgan wants nothing to do with the drama, but he cannot quite stop stepping in. Their story blends enemies to lovers banter, found family, and real danger as past mistakes catch up with Naomi’s twin.

In Things We Hide from the Light, town golden boy and police chief Nash Morgan is recovering from being shot during an investigation into a stolen car ring. On the surface he is still charming, but panic attacks and missing memories are slowly pulling him apart. His new neighbor Lina Solavita arrives with her own scars and a secret mission tied to the same criminals, forcing Nash to face both the case and his fear of letting anyone see him falter.

Things We Left Behind turns the spotlight on Lucian Rollins, a ruthless, controlled businessman who has spent decades trying to erase the stain of his abusive father. Librarian Sloane Walton has known Lucian since childhood and currently cannot stand him, for reasons rooted in a shared, ugly history. Their book leans into long simmering resentment, buried trauma, legal battles, and a slow, scorching slide from enemies into partners.

Across the trilogy, threads repeat in the best way. You will see the same streets, the same diner booths, and the same gaggle of side characters circling each couple. A dangerous crime family arc winds through all three stories, gradually raising the stakes until it brushes every corner of Knockemout. The mood swings from laugh out loud scenes and nosy neighbors to moments that sit heavy in the chest, but every book steers its people toward hard earned joy.
