The first book, It Started With a Kiss, follows Avery Adams after a kidney transplant. She is ready to stop standing still and test what life can still hold, even if that means taking a job well outside her comfort zone. Tyson Donovan, who works mountain rescue and carries his own family complications, gives the romance its push-pull tension. Every Little Kiss keeps the same setting but moves into widowhood, parenthood, and long-buried secrets as Liv Preston meets Ford Jamison.

That does not mean the series turns into action romance. It still works on Marina Adair's favorite ground, chemistry, emotional vulnerability, and community. But the mountain setting lets her talk about risk in a more physical way. A climb, a rescue call, or a job outdoors can mirror what the characters are doing internally, which is deciding whether they are ready to trust life again.

The friendships around the edges help, too. Sequoia Lake is not built around one giant family like some of Adair's other series. It feels a little more adult, a little quieter, and a little more centered on women rebuilding themselves with help from friends who understand what survival really costs.

If you want romance that is hopeful without being lightweight, Sequoia Lake is a strong choice. These books know how to be warm and sexy, but they also make room for fear, loss, and the idea that joy can feel scary after a hard stretch. For readers who like beautiful mountain settings and love stories built on recovery as much as attraction, this series has a lot going for it.
