Marry Me in Seahaven Bay

by Nicola May

2026

Rita's new life at Seahaven Bay is finally taking shape when Jago's ex-wife arrives with a young daughter and plenty of drama. Wedding plans, retreat guests and a life-changing secret put Rita's second chance under real strain.

Series background & context

Seahaven Bay opens with grief, debt and a farm that looks close to failing. Rita Jory has lost her husband Archie in a tragic accident, and suddenly she is left to manage a struggling Cornish property, her own shock and a future that no longer resembles the one she expected. Instead of walking away, she decides to turn Seahaven Farm into a retreat where other damaged, weary people can come to heal by the sea.

That choice gives the series its shape. These are not just romance novels about meeting the next man. They are books about rebuilding a life when the old one has cracked apart. Rita is surrounded by people who both help and complicate matters, including her sharp-tongued mother-in-law, her daughter, loyal friends, guests with their own baggage and Jago, the attractive neighbouring farmer whose history with the Jory family is far from simple.

The Cornish setting matters a lot. The farm, the coast and the retreat create a softer, more restorative atmosphere than a busy town series, but Nicola May does not make it too dreamy. There are badly behaved goats, money worries, family tensions and secrets that keep the story grounded. Rita is trying to save her home as much as herself, which gives the books a strong practical stake as well as an emotional one.

Healing is the promise, not the shortcut.

In Escape to Seahaven Bay, Rita has to face long-buried truths about Archie's past just as she begins to imagine a different future. In Marry Me in Seahaven Bay, that future gets tested when Jago's glamorous ex-wife arrives with a young daughter, the retreat is busier than ever and Rita is forced to think hard about what she really wants next. The series keeps widening the family circle while staying close to Rita's private fears and hopes.

If you like second-chance love, multigenerational family drama and community stories where people come together around a place that genuinely means something, Seahaven Bay fits that mood well. It is warm, funny and hopeful, but it starts from real loss and never forgets it. That balance gives the series its pull. You come for the sea air and the romance, but you stay because Rita's struggle to build something lasting feels human from the first page.
