Author bio

Regina Kyle knew she wanted to write early. At age ten, she won a writing contest with a story about a squirrel and a nut pie, and that small childhood win has become one of the defining details of her author story. It is easy to see why. A lot of writers talk about always wanting to write, but Kyle has the kind of origin story that sounds like the first scene in a romance author's own biography.

By day, she works in law, writing briefs and representing the state in criminal appeals. By night, she writes contemporary romance. That contrast, dry legal writing on one side, heat and humor on the other, tells you quite a bit about her books. They tend to move quickly, stay grounded in adult lives and jobs, and still leave room for a lot of fun.

Theater is one of the big threads running through both her life and her fiction. Kyle has described herself as a serious theater geek and has performed in more than 100 school and community productions. That love of the stage shows up all over her work, especially in books like Triple Threat and Summer Stock, where rehearsals, performances, backstage nerves, and big personalities are all part of the attraction.

She also likes writing about capable people who already have full lives before the romance begins. In Triple Time, the leads are a prosecutor with political ambitions and a tattoo artist with her own troubles to solve. In Dirty Work, the sparks fly between a concierge building a new business and a nightclub owner who barely knows how to unplug. Across the books, you see a steady interest in people who are driven, busy, and not always great at admitting what they need.

She clearly enjoys putting high-achievers in messy emotional situations.

One nice thing about her catalog is the range. If you want sunshine, travel, and forced proximity, there is How Not to Mess with a Millionaire. If you want a warmer small-town mood, Sugar Plum Seduction and Summer Stock lean into community, second chances, and local arts scenes. If you want queer romance, books like Showstopper and Close Quarters bring her same quick banter and emotional honesty into MM stories set around hockey, theater, and international racing.

The cats, one assumes, approve on their own schedule.

Her work has picked up Booksellers' Best awards for Triple Dare, Billionaire in Her Bed, and Dirty Work. Those wins fit the larger shape of her career. Readers tend to come to Kyle for stories that are sexy and lively, but also a little softer than their premises might suggest. Even when she is writing about celebrities, billionaires, or elite athletes, she keeps the focus on vulnerability, timing, and whether two people can make real life fit around strong attraction.

Kyle lives on the Connecticut coast with her husband and two melodramatic cats. When she is not writing, she is likely singing, reading, or getting up far too early to catch a Formula One race. It all feels very on brand. Her books have the same mix of discipline, energy, and playful drama.
