This two-book set is early Kylie Brant romantic suspense built around men who protect people for a living and women who force them out of their comfort zones. The stories are linked more by profession and tone than by one long ongoing plot, but they share the same mix of danger, emotional scars, and guarded attraction.

Guarding Raine sets the pattern. Security expert Macauley O'Neill is hired to keep Raine Michaels safe, and he wants the job to stay simple. It does not. Bringing Benjy Home shifts the focus to Trey Garrison and every family's nightmare, a kidnapped child. Trey is competent, practical, and desperate enough to work with Jaida West, even though he does not fully trust her psychic ability. That creates a nice tension inside the suspense. The case is urgent, the stakes are personal, and belief becomes almost as important as strategy.

What carries both books is loyalty. The O'Neill and Garrison names matter because these stories are about people who feel responsible for others, clients, children, siblings, and eventually the person standing beside them. Brant gives her heroes plenty of skill, but she does not pretend skill is enough. They are stubborn, a little bruised, and far too used to handling everything alone.

Expect quick pacing, close calls, and romance that grows out of pressure instead of sweetness alone. If you like bodyguard stories, rescue plots, and emotionally guarded leads who have to learn trust the hard way, this is a strong sample of Brant's early style.
