Series background & context

Nashville Romantics is a short contemporary series, lighter in length than Arcadia Creek but just as interested in chemistry, emotional recovery, and everyday work lives.

The setting is modern Nashville, but not in the shiny celebrity sense. Stockton uses the city through jobs, creative spaces, and the social circles her characters move in. That gives the books a lived-in feel. They are romances about people trying to do their work, save face, and maybe stop pretending they are fine.

Off the Record takes place in a newspaper office, where Paisley is stuck around an ex who cheated on her just as a charming interim boss enters the picture. The setup gives the book fake-dating energy, workplace tension, and a compact rom-com pace. Between the Shelves shifts toward a more bookish corner of the city, with a bookstore, an author connection, and history between the leads that clearly has not gone quiet.

These are not long, sprawling novels. They are built to be read quickly and enjoyed for their banter, their setups, and the way Stockton gets to the emotional point without a lot of extra fuss.

If you like contemporary romance with a novella feel, some professional overlap, and a little extra love for readers and writers, Nashville Romantics is an easy series to pick up.
