Series background & context

The Maple Gardens Matchmakers series is set around Maple Gardens Assisted Living, a warm community where staff go the extra mile and a close-knit group of older residents takes a very active interest in other people's love lives. They see patterns, notice smiles, and are never shy about giving romance a nudge.

Each novel focuses on a new couple whose lives intersect with Maple Gardens. In The Heart Match, Izzie Davis is working hard to keep her mum's care paid for and refuses to accept charity from anyone. Bart Brown has more money than he can ever spend, but the one woman he wants will only date him if he promises never to use his wealth to help her. A long-lost jade necklace and a risky auction force both of them to confront what really matters.

The Christmas Match brings together Olivia, a dedicated employee who loves the residents, and Isaac, the ambitious son of one of her charges. A spilled drink, a small act of revenge, and a lie about having a girlfriend push them into a fake-dating trip to New York at Christmas, where pretending to be in love becomes more complicated than either expects.

In The Menu Match, social media influencer Quinne reluctantly agrees to feature Maple Gardens at her mother's request. Working with gruff cook Peter and his ten-year-old daughter, she rediscovers the joy of cooking and begins to see through the walls she has built around herself. The residents, of course, are quietly steering things along.

The Cookie Match revisits the town through Ava, who never quite followed her dreams, and Max, the childhood friend who left and returns a self-made success. As Ava tries to turn her love of baking into a business and helps cater a big charity event, she has to decide whether she can trust both Max and herself.

Across the series, money, pride, and family expectations sit alongside cinnamon, Christmas lights, and late-night conversations in quiet corridors. The books are sweet, closed-door romances that lean on emotional stakes rather than explicit scenes, with plenty of intergenerational friendships.

You can comfortably read the Maple Gardens Matchmakers novels in any order, but following them from The Heart Match onward lets you watch the resident matchmakers refine their craft and enjoy the gentle threads that connect each couple's story.
