Series background & context
The Manwhore series is Apryl Baker's New Adult contemporary romance series, beginning with Touch Me Not. Its first story centers on Lily Holmes, who cannot bear to be touched after a tragedy in her past, and Nikoli Kincaid, the campus player whose confidence hides problems of his own.
Their arrangement starts as a challenge. Nikoli offers to help Lily become comfortable with physical contact again, while Lily believes the deal may give her a chance at the relationship she thinks she wants. Neither of them expects honesty, friendship, and attraction to make the rules much harder to follow.
The deal is only the beginning.
Baker uses the romance to explore trust at a patient pace. Lily's fear is not treated as a minor obstacle to be brushed away, and Nikoli has to learn that charm is not the same thing as emotional honesty. Their connection grows through awkward moments, teasing, boundaries, and the difficult choice to let another person matter.
The later books, The Sinners Touch, The Healing Touch, and Forever Your Touch, stay in the same emotional world and continue to develop the characters and relationships around the original couple. The series has heat and dramatic turns, but its strongest thread is the way people with old wounds try to build something safer together.
Love does not erase the past.
The tone is intense, sexy, and relationship-focused, with plenty of banter alongside heavier subjects. Readers who enjoy campus settings, opposites-attract tension, guarded heroes, and characters working through painful history will find the series a good fit. The title is provocative, but the stories are interested in more than the first impression it gives.
Start with Touch Me Not and read in order. The books build on emotional history and recurring connections, so moving straight through the series gives the romances their full weight. It is Baker's best starting point for readers who want her contemporary side rather than her paranormal fiction.
