Vampires, dryads, witches, elementals, and shifters all live there under an uneasy kind of peace. It is a refuge, but not a soft one. The people of Maggie's Grove are always one bad decision, one old enemy, or one outside attack away from chaos.

That gives the series a nice push and pull.

Each book follows a different couple, but the town keeps them tied together. The series opens with Parker Hollis, a vampire on the run, and Amara Schwedler, a dryad who has never quite fit in. From there the spotlight shifts to Dragos and Mina, Ash and Selena, Greer and Mollie, and finally Noah and Iva. Every romance stands on its own, but each one also changes the balance of power inside the Grove.

What makes the setting memorable is how specific it feels. Maggie's Grove is not just a generic paranormal village with some magic sprinkled on top. The dryads' Throne matters. The town rulers matter. The different species have old loyalties, bruised feelings, and very practical reasons to protect the place. Bell keeps bringing the story back to the idea that a safe home is something you build, defend, and sometimes rebuild after damage.

The series also leans hard into healing. A lot of these characters are hurt before the books even begin. Some are carrying trauma from torture or magical attacks. Some have been rejected, isolated, or pushed outside their own communities. That means the romance is never just about attraction. It is about trust, recovery, and learning how to stand beside someone without taking away their strength.

The outside threats help keep the books moving. A vengeful witch, human hunters, demon-touched enemies, and long running supernatural grudges all put pressure on the town. Bell uses those threats well, because they raise the stakes without losing sight of the relationships. Even in the middle of action, the series stays focused on who these people are when they are scared, guilty, angry, or trying very hard not to need anyone.

The tone is warm, protective, and a little dangerous. If you like paranormal romance with a real sense of place, recurring side characters, and an ongoing fight to keep one strange little community safe, Maggie's Grove does that really well.
