Series background & context
Last Chance is a small-town series with an artsier edge than some of Riley Hart's other rural romances. The books are set in a place where people come home carrying old history, and where visual art, photography, and creativity are woven into the emotional lives of the characters.
Depth of Field and Color Me In both work from that idea. One book brings an erotic artist and photographer back into the orbit of the man he once hurt. The other follows men who are trying to rebuild themselves after loss, bad choices, and years of feeling out of place. In both stories, the town does what a good Hart town usually does, it forces people to stop running from what still matters.
The tone is emotional without being overwhelming. If you like small-town romance, but you want a version that feels a little moodier and more reflective, Last Chance is worth the stop.
