Series background & context

Crossroads is one of Riley Hart's signature small-town series, and it is easy to see why. The books are grounded in everyday life, adult responsibilities, and men who are not looking for big life changes right up until those changes show up anyway.

Crossroads, Shifting Gears, and Test Drive all build around that idea. A divorced restaurant owner, a guy who has never wanted another man before, a hometown return, an unexpected family tangle, an adult friendship that turns into something more, this series likes to drop people into emotional territory they did not plan to explore. Jumpstart fits neatly into that world too, keeping the same mix of heart, chemistry, and second chances.

The tone is warm, character-driven, and quietly funny. These books are about figuring yourself out a little later than expected, and about discovering that being unsettled is sometimes the first sign that you are finally headed somewhere better.
