Series background & context
Sins of the Father is Riley Hart in dark, new adult, morally gray mode. These books are tied together much more tightly than many of her other series, with overlapping characters, family loyalties, violence at the edges, and a criminal world that keeps bleeding into private relationships.
The series starts with Bittersweet Revenge, where revenge is the whole reason for the relationship's existence, then expands through Sweet Vengeance and Sweet Obsession before reaching Sweet Devotion. College life and wealthy family power sit beside organized crime, grief, and a lot of bad decisions made for what characters believe are good reasons. Nobody here is especially clean-handed, and that is part of the appeal.
If you want Riley Hart's darkest connected world, this is it. The books still promise romance and emotional payoff, but they get there through secrecy, danger, obsessive attraction, and a cast of people who would absolutely lie for love and maybe do much worse than lie.
