IAD Agency Books in Order

The IAD Agency series is where Laurie Roma leans hardest into action-driven romantic suspense. The pitch is simple and effective: dangerous people who are good at stopping bad guys turn out to be much less prepared for love than they are for missions. The agents are elite, highly trained, and deeply loyal, and the books treat the team almost like a family.

That mission gives the series its shape. Under Pressure introduces Jason MacBain, the controlled, deadly leader of the agency, and Bella Moretti, a chef trying to rebuild her sense of safety after surviving a brutal attack. One Shot sends agent Tara Toshi into the orbit of Las Vegas hotel owner Julian King while a terrorist threat closes in. Deadly Target pairs recovering agent Mikayla Lincoln with former actor Gage Stark in the Colorado woods. Cross Point widens the world again with Katrina Cross stepping into danger on an island trip that turns into a murder investigation and a complicated romance.

The biggest draw is the mix of competence and vulnerability. Roma's agents can shoot, track, plan, interrogate, and hold up under pressure. They can also be emotionally armored, stubborn, and terrible at admitting what they need. The love interests are not just decorative, either. They come from very different worlds, kitchens, casinos, film sets, island business empires, and each relationship works because it forces the characters to imagine a life outside the mission.

There is also a strong team dynamic running through the books. One couple may be front and center, but the agency itself keeps showing up in the background, which makes the series feel connected rather than episodic. Injuries carry forward. Friendships matter. Protective instincts help and hurt in equal measure. By the later books, readers already know the emotional rhythm of the group.

The tone is sexy, fast, and unapologetically protective. You get threats, stalkers, bullets, terrorist plots, and criminal schemes, but you also get humor, loyalty, and people learning how to be cared for. Roma likes pairing hard-edged heroes with heroines who are just as capable of pushing back, and this series gives her a lot of room to do that.

If you want the cleanest reading experience, start with Under Pressure and move forward. The books can stand alone, but the payoff is stronger when you watch the agency grow one romance at a time. Even the crossovers, like Ash's Flame, land better once the IAD crew already feels familiar.
