Fated Encounters Books in Order

Fated Encounters is one of Laurie Roma's shortest and most direct series, but it still gives a clear picture of what she enjoys as a romance writer. In Beauty, Tessa Campbell tries to save her father's job and finds herself face to face with a powerful businessman whose reputation makes him sound more monster than man. The setups are simple, but that is part of the point. Roma is not aiming for a slow, winding courtship here. She is dropping the characters straight into pressure, attraction, and the moment when everything shifts.

That means the stakes are personal rather than sprawling. The conflict comes from embarrassment, class differences, workplace pressure, family obligations, and the fear of trusting someone who seems larger than life. These are romances about intense first meetings, immediate chemistry, and the question of whether a connection that feels overwhelming can also be real.

Because the books are compact, the focus stays tight on the central couple. There is not a huge secondary cast to track, and there is not much worldbuilding to hold in your head. The appeal is pace. You meet the characters quickly, understand what is pushing against them, and get swept into the emotional turn almost at once. If you like novellas that know exactly what they are doing, that is a strength rather than a weakness.

The tone is steamy, heightened, and very readable.
