Series background & context

Hope Harbor is Karla Doyle's fictional small town on the north shore of Lake Erie in Ontario, and it feels lived in from the start. There is a waterfront, a beach strip, a pier, local shops, a bar, restaurants, and all the everyday overlap you want from an interconnected romance world. People run into each other. Friends know too much. Businesses become landmarks.

That is the real hook of the series. Each book follows a different couple, but the town keeps everybody loosely connected. You might get a bar owner, a rock star passing through, a dog-loving shop owner, a florist, a fisherman, or somebody trying to start over. The stories shift in tone, but they all come back to the same place and the same sense that this town notices everything.

Hope Harbor is the kind of place where chemistry never stays private for long.

The books are standalones, so there is no single required reading order, but readers who enjoy character crossovers will get more out of them by moving through the linked titles in sequence. If you like small-town contemporary romance with banter, strong physical attraction, recurring side characters, and businesses that feel like part of the cast, this is one of Doyle's easiest worlds to settle into.
