A title like Matchmakers, Inc tells you the romance engine right away. These books are built around dating services, speed-dating events, franchise owners, or the people who keep trying to engineer love for everybody else. That setup gives the series a nice built-in irony, because the characters are often surrounded by matchmaking while being very bad at handling their own feelings.

Karla Doyle's Dating the Doubter makes especially good use of that tension. The hero walks in convinced love is nonsense and ends up clashing with the woman running the dating world around him. That kind of oppositional setup is perfect for a matchmaking series because the structure itself keeps forcing the leads back into contact.

Someone always thinks they are above the premise. They rarely are.

Readers who like contemporary romance with banter, sharp first impressions, and a little professional rivalry should do well here. The appeal is the contrast between a polished, organized dating machine and the chaotic way attraction actually works once two stubborn people get in each other's space.
