HeavenScribe Books in Order

HeavenScribe is the outlier in Christine Nolfi's catalog, and that is part of the appeal. Instead of grounded small-town women's fiction, this series moves into spiritual mystery, prophecy, and the feeling that everyday life is brushing up against something far larger. It is still character-driven, but the questions here are bigger, stranger, and more openly metaphysical than in her other books.

The story starts with Zobie Marsh, a young woman who has long hidden a gift for prophecy. She is grieving the loss of her beloved grandmother and trying to escape danger at home when she heads to South Carolina. On the other side is Bel Petersen, a wife and mother whose life looks secure from the outside even as grief, vivid dreams, and a string of losses begin to crack that calm surface.

One shocking accident brings them together, and from there the series opens into angels, Primaries, braided ribbons with unusual power, and a threat called the Dimming. Zobie understands before Bel does that their meeting is not an accident. They are being pushed toward a mission that could affect far more than their own lives, and neither woman is fully prepared for what that means.

Bel, especially, has to learn fast.

That is one reason the books stay grounded even when the plot turns supernatural. Much of the tension comes from very human concerns: loss, fear, faith, doubt, marriage, friendship, and the private panic of realizing your world no longer follows familiar rules. Hospital rooms, family conversations, and quiet domestic scenes matter as much here as visions or signs from beyond. The series never forgets that awe is easier to feel when it lands in an ordinary life.

There is magic here, but it is the searching kind. A rose arbor becomes a portal. Messages arrive from impossible places. Bel has to decide whether she can trust gifts she never wanted, while Zobie has to live with powers that have isolated her for years. The installments are short, but they are tightly linked, so each one feels less like a separate adventure and more like another door opening in the same long hallway.

Read HeavenScribe: Part One, Heavenscribe: Part Two, and Heavenscribe: Part Three in order, and ideally close together. This is really one continuing story, not three neat standalones. If you like fiction that blends emotional stakes with spiritual ideas, and you do not mind a mystery that values wonder as much as clear answers, this series offers a very different side of Nolfi.
