Guardians Inc. Books in Order

Guardians Inc. is one of Belle Calhoune's more suspense-leaning series. The romances are still clean and heartfelt, but the setups involve witnesses, threats, old betrayals, and protective heroes who have to do more than simply show up with flowers.

The early books are set around Briarwood, Texas, where danger comes in close to everyday life. In Guarding Her Heart, a realtor witnesses a murder, loses parts of her memory, and has to rely on Sheriff Matt Cruz for protection. Through The Fire brings a woman back to town for a funeral, a deathbed confession, and a vandal threatening the local ranching community, all while forcing her to work with the man she left behind years earlier.

These are not sprawling thrillers.

What Calhoune seems most interested in is the emotional side of protection. The external trouble matters, but it mainly pushes the characters into honesty. How do you trust someone after gossip, abandonment, fear, or deception? How do you move toward love when being vulnerable feels unsafe? Those are the questions that drive the series.

If you want a Belle Calhoune series with a little more momentum and a little more edge, Guardians Inc. is a good place to look. The stakes are higher than in her cozier small-town romances, but the tone is still hopeful, faith-aware, and focused on healing as much as on danger.
