Series background & context

Alaskan Grooms is built around one of Belle Calhoune's most playful setups. In the remote town of Love, Alaska, the mayor launches an Operation Love matchmaking effort to bring more women to town and hopefully pair them with local bachelors. That premise gives the series an easy hook, but the books are warmer and more grounded than the setup might suggest.

Love, Alaska becomes a gathering place for newcomers, longtime residents, and people trying to start over. An Alaskan Wedding begins with an undercover reporter who arrives to investigate the matchmaking plan and ends up falling for the local sheriff. A Match Made in Alaska strands a librarian and a bush pilot in the wilderness after a crash landing. Reunited at Christmas uses amnesia and marriage-in-trouble emotions during the holiday season. His Secret Alaskan Heiress, An Alaskan Christmas, and Her Alaskan Cowboy all keep the focus on hidden identities, old flames, family expectations, and the hard work of trusting someone for real.

The town does a lot of the lifting.

Because Love is small and remote, community matters. People know one another, help one another, gossip a little, and show up when it counts. Snow, mountains, small businesses, holiday traditions, and big local families give the series its texture, especially the Prescott and O'Rourke connections that pop up across the books.

If you like inspirational romance with strong Alaska atmosphere, this is one of Calhoune's signature series. The books can stand alone, but reading them in order lets you watch Love, Alaska turn from a clever premise into a place that genuinely feels like home.
