Series background & context

The Glendale Hall series is Victoria Walters’s uplifting romance series set around a Scottish Highlands village and the grand estate that gives the books their name. Glendale is not just scenery. It is the kind of place that keeps pulling people back, especially when their lives have become too tangled to sort out alone.

The first book, Coming Home to Glendale Hall, introduces Beth Williams, who left the estate ten years earlier after becoming pregnant at sixteen. She has built a life for herself and her daughter Isabelle, but returning home forces her to face her mother, her grandmother, and Drew, the first love she never quite left behind. The village itself also needs mending, which gives Beth a second kind of homecoming to work through.

From there, the series widens out.

Each Glendale book follows a different main character while keeping the same warm community in view. New Beginnings At Glendale Hall focuses on Emily Prescott, a baker whose return to Scotland comes after betrayal and a broken plan for the future. Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall moves to Fraser Farm, where Heather Douglas has love, a child, and a life that still does not feel fully settled.

The later books keep circling the same ideas without telling the same story twice. In Always and Forever at Glendale Hall, Anna Stewart arrives for a temporary job at the hall, certain she does not want roots. In Dreams Come True at Glendale Hall, Lorna Ferguson tries to restore Dove House with her brother and turn a long-held dream into a bed and breakfast.

Glendale is built on second chances, but they are not always romantic. Some characters need to forgive family. Some need to trust themselves. Some need to stop running from grief, fear, or a version of the future they once thought they wanted. Love matters, but so do friends, work, home, and the courage to admit that a plan is no longer working.

The tone is gentle, emotional, and community-minded. There are weddings, festive trails, farms, renovation problems, village plans, and plenty of moments where people have to choose whether to stay or go. The books can be read as connected standalones, though reading in order gives you the pleasure of watching Glendale’s residents grow around the edges of each new romance.
