Series background & context

Birch Tree Farm is Victoria Walters’s seasonal small-town romance series set in and around Birchbrook. The farm is the heart of the series, a place that needs work, imagination, and a lot of hope. It is also where people arrive when their lives have gone off course and they need somewhere softer to land.

The series starts with Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow. Willow Connor is trying to save her family’s farm after loss and money worries have left its future uncertain. Her plan is bold and slightly chaotic: turn Birch Tree Farm into Birchbrook’s first pumpkin patch, even though she has very little time and not much proof that it will work. Dylan Henderson, a property consultant, arrives with a much more practical solution. Sell.

Of course, practicality is not the whole story.

Willow’s fight for the farm sets the tone for the series. These books are about seasonal events, close-knit community, and people learning that home can be something you build rather than something you simply inherit. The romance comes with banter, pressure, and the push-pull of people who want different things but keep seeing more in each other than they expected.

Picnics and Promises at Strawberry Fields returns to Birch Tree Farm for spring and summer. Daisy Connor, Willow’s cousin, flees her wedding and comes to the farm for space. Blake Daniels arrives nursing his own broken heart. With strawberry picking season approaching, the farm needs help, and Daisy and Blake need distraction. When their exes turn up demanding answers, a fake relationship becomes a convenient shield, until it starts feeling less fake than either of them planned.

The third book, Hope and Hot Chocolate on Mistletoe Lane, adds a Christmas turn. Holly Wynter comes back to Birchbrook for a festive job at Birch Tree Farm, even though the town carries memories she would rather avoid. Paul Ryan, an old friend who stayed in Birchbrook and helps run his family’s cafe, is still there. Their shared past gives the holiday setup a little ache under the sparkle.

The series can be read as standalones, but the farm’s changing seasons make the books especially satisfying in order. Start with pumpkins, move into strawberries, then head toward Christmas lights and hot chocolate.
