Series background & context

Gateway to the Galaxy: The Invasion is a science fiction trilogy by Apryl Baker and Jonathan Yanez. It begins with a hunting trip in the West Virginia woods that goes badly wrong when Sergeant AJ Cole, his younger brother Remmy, and fellow Marines discover an alien force preparing to use a gateway to invade Earth.

What starts close to home becomes a fight across worlds.

The core of the series is Marine Space Corps Two, a group that has to face an enemy with better technology, greater numbers, and no reason to spare humanity. AJ is trained to lead, but the invasion puts his duty to Earth in direct conflict with his need to keep his brother safe. Remmy, meanwhile, becomes connected to a larger prophecy that makes him a target.

The first book, The Invasion, is the best entry point because it introduces the gateway, the Ravagers, and the team at the center of the war. Stand Your Ground takes the group farther from Earth in search of a way to defeat the Sarkan Empire. Fight Back brings the conflict toward its decisive stage, with the youngest recruit carrying a burden no one can ignore.

The stakes are planetary, but the story stays personal.

Expect a quick, military-minded adventure with alien worlds, combat, improvised alliances, and a band of characters who keep finding reasons to push forward. The books are interested in courage and teamwork more than technical detail. The energy comes from watching the unit adapt when every new answer seems to create another problem.

The trilogy has a straightforward reading order and a complete central arc, making it easy for readers who want a contained science fiction run. Start with The Invasion and continue directly through the next two books. It is a good fit for readers who enjoy alien invasions, squads facing impossible odds, and family bonds tested by war.
