Flights & Feelings Books in Order

Flights & Feelings is one of Nicole Falls's newer connected series, and the title tells you a lot. These books are built around movement, travel-adjacent lives, and the emotional baggage people carry even when they look put together from the outside. That makes the series feel modern and slightly more mature from the jump.

The first book, Excess Baggage, follows Winifred Brown, called Freddie, and Elijah Woolford. Freddie works in the orbit of a Black-owned airline and is not interested in being talked into romance by a man who feels much too young for her comfort. Elijah, meanwhile, is patient, persistent, and sure about what he wants. The book plays with age-gap attraction, but what really carries it is the question of whether Freddie can believe someone younger sees her clearly and still means every word.

The second book, Departures and Arrivals, shifts to Veronica Covington and Weston Hall. Their connection begins on a beach during a difficult moment in both their lives, then returns years later when they are finally in a place to explore what that first meeting meant. That longer emotional runway gives the series a nice counterpoint to the more immediate pull of the first book.

Travel is not just a cute naming convention here. Falls uses it as a way to think about timing, transition, and emotional risk. People arrive at one another carrying prior relationships, grief, self-protection, and whole life stages that are not easy to leave behind. The romance works when they decide some of that weight no longer needs to come with them.

There is also a very appealing grown-folks quality to these books. The characters are not figuring out who they are from scratch. They already have jobs, habits, scars, and responsibilities. What changes is their willingness to make room for love inside lives that already have shape.

So if you like contemporary romance with connected characters, adult tension, and a light travel framework that actually means something, Flights & Feelings is worth a look. It feels polished without being cold, sexy without losing emotional clarity, and especially good at capturing that specific Nicole Falls mix of banter, vulnerability, and people learning not to let old baggage run the whole trip.
