Fate & Flame Books in Order

The Fate & Flame series is adult fantasy with a strong romance core and a portal fantasy opening that drops the reader straight into trouble. It begins with Romeria, a thief from New York, getting pulled into the realm of Islor and waking up in the body of an elven princess who has already made plenty of enemies. Before she even understands the rules of this world, she is stuck inside its politics, its grudges, and its expectations.

That is a rough way to start anything.

A lot of the tension comes from identity. Romeria has to pretend to be someone else, hide what she does and does not know, and work out who brought her here in the first place. The person she keeps circling back to is King Zander, the ruler tied to the princess whose body she now wears. He has every reason to distrust her, and she has no reason to believe a king will make her safer.

The setting matters a lot in these books. Islor is built around rival powers, old magic, prophecy, gods, and the kind of history that never really stays in the past. As the series moves forward, the story widens from palace intrigue to rebellion, war, hidden places, and larger questions about fate, magic, and who gets to rule.

At the center of it all is the slow-burn relationship between Romeria and Zander. This is very much an enemies-to-lovers story, but it is not just bickering and sparks. Their connection grows because they keep getting pushed into impossible situations together, and because both of them are carrying more responsibility than they want.

Nothing stays small for long.

If you like fantasy that gives equal weight to plot and romantic tension, this series does that well. There are twists, betrayals, battles, and plenty of questions about who is telling the truth. The books really do need to be read in order, starting with A Fate of Wrath and Flame, because the emotional and political stakes build from one book to the next.
