Series background & context

The Extreme Risk books take Tracy Wolff's emotional contemporary style and move it into the world of competitive snowboarding. The setting matters. Park City is full of motion, money, injury, ego, cold weather, and people who are always one bad decision away from wiping out in public. That makes it a great backdrop for romances built around grief, ambition, friendship, and the need to figure out what comes next after life goes sideways.

The series starts with Shredded, where Z Michaels and Ophelia Richardson meet while both are carrying more damage than they want anyone to see. Shattered shifts to Ash Lewis and Tansy Hampton, pairing fresh grief with a heroine determined to live as fully as she can. Slashed brings things closer to home with Luc Jennings and Cam Bradley, leaning into long friendship, missed chances, and the fact that being the safe person in someone else's life can get very complicated.

These books are sporty, but the competition never overwhelms the character work. Snowboarding gives everyone goals, routines, and pressure. The real story is what these people do when the things that once defined them stop being enough. If you like new adult romance with a strong group dynamic and a lot of emotional recovery baked in, this series is a good place to go next.
