That search pulls him toward Haruka, toward a soulmate bond, and toward a magical campus world that is stranger and more dangerous than it first looks. The novella Patience stays with Eli and Haruka and works like a breather chapter, giving them room to be together while the wider story keeps moving.

Then Quiet shifts focus to Isa and Briar. Isa is trying to build a life away from an abusive, deeply controlling family.
