The well itself is the thread. In Laird of Misrule, a Samhain night, a moonlit well, and one reckless dance set Dugan and Braylin on a path that honor quickly makes dangerous. Once Upon an Enchanted Well uses the same atmosphere in a smaller, moodier way, with Rhona isolated in the marshes and Peadair working by night while rumor turns the growing well into something uncanny. Master of Mayhem leans hardest into the legend, letting Ruben Lindsey and Sabine Modesty Hawlyn see one another in the Midnight Well before real life gives them trouble enough to test the promise.

These books are still romance first. The magic is gentle. You are not stepping into a full fantasy kingdom. Instead, the folklore works like a nudge, a question, or an old belief people half mock until it starts to feel true. That makes the atmosphere a little softer and stranger than Wine's straighter Highland series.
