The Edgars Family is Suzanne Ferrell's romantic suspense world, built around a close Ohio clan whose jobs keep putting them in the path of trouble. It starts with Kidnapped, where Samantha Edgars, an ER nurse, is yanked into danger by an injured FBI agent protecting a young witness. From there the spotlight moves through other branches of the family, including patrolman Matt in Hunted, SWAT officer Dave in Seized, and federal agent Luke in Vanished. Later books widen the circle to important family allies and future in-laws, so the cast keeps growing without losing that feeling of home base.

These are not quiet books.

Ferrell likes high-pressure setups. Witness protection blows up. A cult survivor goes on the run. A wife is taken hostage. A photographer's house burns down. A friend disappears from a bloody apartment. A homicide case turns stranger and darker by the day. Even when the danger gets bigger, the stories stay grounded in people who are scared, stubborn, and trying to decide who they can trust.

That balance is the appeal. The suspense matters, but the romance never feels pasted on. Seized is a good example, because it looks at an established marriage under stress instead of a brand-new love story. Vanished and Unmasked push deeper into federal operations and Luke and Abby's tense history. Drained adds a darker homicide case and starts to show the world moving toward a broader investigations setup. Betrayed carries the series into a rougher, more isolated landscape without losing the family thread.

The Edgars themselves are the glue. When one person is in trouble, help rarely comes from just one direction. Brothers, sisters, spouses, law enforcement friends, and old loyalties all pile in. That gives the books a warmer core than a straight thriller. You still get fast action and real jeopardy, but you also get weddings, teasing, and the sense that these people have a long shared history.

Read the series in order if you can. The cases are separate enough to enjoy one at a time, but the emotional payoff is better when you watch the family build, couple by couple, crisis by crisis.
