The Conduit series introduces a new, secondary-world branch of Meghan Ciana Doidge’s storytelling, separate from the Adept Universe but sharing her fascination with love, power, and fate. Here, magic is an underlying essence that threads through everything, and certain people are born to act as conduits at intersection points where that essence must be balanced.

In Awry, the first book, the unnamed narrator is on her way to investigate her aunt’s suspicious death when she encounters a caged teenager with unmistakably purple eyes. The girl’s destiny burns so brightly in the weave of the universe that the Conduit cannot bear to walk away. Rescuing her, though, is not an act of random kindness; it is a tug on a snag in reality that unravels everything the heroine thinks she knows about herself. Manipulated into becoming the Conduit at least a century before her time, she realizes she has lost memories of friends, lovers, and even soul-bound mates, and that someone has been rewriting more than just her past.

The series blends political maneuvering, cosmic-scale magic, and an unabashed “why choose” romantic structure. Rather than picking a single partner, the Conduit gradually rebuilds connections with multiple bondmates whose lives and powers are entangled with her own. Questions of consent, agency, and who gets to define destiny run through the narrative, which is as interested in conversations and healing as it is in explosive displays of essence-fueled power.

The announced second book, Snag, continues this arc, returning to the same world and cast after the revelations of Awry. While details are still unfolding, the title and early notes suggest that the consequences of pulling at one snag in the weave of the universe spread outward, forcing the Conduit and her bondmates to confront larger threats and deeper layers of manipulation.

Readers who enjoyed the emotional intensity and found family of the Amplifier series but are curious about a fully alternate universe, richer with courtly politics and unapologetically polyamorous romance, will find Conduit a natural next stop.
