Author bio
Claudia Burgoa grew up in Mexico City, surrounded by noise, color, and the kind of everyday drama that later seeped into her stories. As a kid she devoured books and quietly rewrote their endings in her head.
As an adult she moved to the United States and eventually settled in Colorado. By day she worked in finance and tech, juggling spreadsheets, deadlines, and a growing family. At night she started sneaking back to the page, turning those half-formed scenes into actual chapters.
Those late nights became her first novel, Where Life Takes You, a contemporary romance that leans into trauma, healing, and the long road to loving yourself. When readers connected with Becca’s messy, hurting heart, Claudia realized there was room in romance for the sort of complicated characters who had been living in her head for years.
From there her world kept expanding. She built an interconnected universe of big families, small towns, and found communities: the Decker clan and the Unexpected series, the Aldridge brothers of Loved You Once and the Baker’s Creek books, the Spearman family in Maybe Later, and text-happy Seattle singles in Wrong Text, Right Love.
Readers come to her books expecting banter and heat, but they stay for the feelings. Her stories often balance sharp humor and slow-burn chemistry with subjects like grief, addiction, mental health, and the weight of family expectations. She lets her characters be flawed, sometimes badly, and then gives them room to grow into their own kind of happy ending.
Music and fame thread through much of her work, from rockstar heartbreak in My One Regret to the Sinners of Seattle novels and the MM duets that spin out of that band’s history. Other series lean into small-town comfort and holiday light, or into romantic suspense where secret agencies and hidden identities brush up against everyday life.
Today Claudia lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, their youngest two children, and a trio of very opinionated dogs. When she is not writing, she is usually reading, knitting, or hanging out with her family. Most nights end with a blanket, a show, and a long debrief with her equally geeky husband.
She likes to say that each book starts with a single what-if and a scrap of a song, then grows into a story about people who feel real enough that you miss them when the last page ends.
