Author bio

Cat Adams is the shared pen name of C.T. Adams, also known as Cie Adams, and Cathy Clamp. The two writers began working together in 1997, building stories that mix everyday problems with vampires, shapeshifters, psychics, demons, and dangerous magic.

Clamp came to fiction after working as a legal and technical writer. Meeting Adams gave the partnership an important spark: Adams brought a steady flow of story ideas, while Clamp found a natural fit in writing romance and action. They were soon writing as a team, with each writer helping shape the other’s raw material into a complete novel.

They built their career together.

Their first major shared world was the Sazi series, beginning with Hunter's Moon. These books imagine shapeshifters living in secret beside humans, governed by pack loyalties, councils, rival species, and rules that are not always fair. The series moves between different characters and kinds of shifters, so readers get wolves, cats, birds, bears, snakes, and plenty of trouble when the hidden world threatens to become public.

They also wrote the darker Thrall trilogy, starting with Touch of Evil. It follows courier Kate Reilly after an encounter with parasitic vampires changes her life and leaves her caught in their psychic web. The books have romance, but the real engine is survival: Kate has to protect her family, hold on to herself, and deal with supernatural predators who see people as resources.

Then came a new byline for a new kind of reader.

As Cat Adams, the pair launched the Blood Singer novels with Blood Song in 2010. The series centers on Celia Graves, a professional bodyguard in a California where magical threats are part of the job. A vampire attack transforms her into something neither fully human nor fully vampire, and the aftermath exposes a Siren heritage she never knew she had. In Siren Song, Demon Song, The Isis Collar, The Eldritch Conspiracy, and To Dance With the Devil, Celia takes on investigations, curses, family complications, political danger, and threats that keep getting harder to contain.

The appeal is practical fantasy. These characters still have jobs, bills, arguments, old relationships, and people they want to keep safe, even when a demon, magical plague, or supernatural power struggle turns up at the door.

The Cat Adams name also appears on Magic's Design, a standalone about healer Mila Penkin and an otherworldly police agent, Talos Onan. Adams later continued the Blood Singer line alone under the Cat Adams name with All Your Wishes, while also writing solo work such as The Exile. Clamp continued working in the Sazi setting through the Luna Lake novels, including Forbidden, Illicit, and Denied.

Clamp lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband, dogs, cats, and goats. Adams has written about balancing a full-time job, family life, pets, and an early-morning writing routine powered by plenty of caffeine. It fits the books: strange things may happen, but the people facing them still have to get on with life.
