Series background & context

Blades of Havoc is a four-book contemporary romantic suspense series about Luciana, the heir to a mafia family who would rather build a future in figure skating than inherit a criminal empire. She has been taught how to survive the brutal world her family controls, but the ice is the only place where she feels like herself. When her mother has Luciana's coach murdered to stop those ambitions, running becomes her only real option.

In Shotgun Spin, Luciana flees with a bodyguard who is supposed to remain strictly off-limits. They settle in a small town where she hopes to skate quietly at a local rink and keep her identity hidden. That plan becomes harder when she meets two other men with their own wounds and reasons for finding comfort on the ice. For the first time, Luciana has the beginnings of a life chosen for herself rather than assigned by her family.

But her past doesn't stay behind. A gang threatens her new neighbors, a stalker leaves disturbing messages, and the closer Luciana gets to competitive skating, the more visible she becomes. Pivot Point follows her as her career gains momentum and the fear of being found by her family grows. The romance develops alongside that pressure, with Luciana trying to protect the men she cares about from the violence that has always followed her.

The spotlight can be dangerous.

In Skid Spiral, Luciana is pulled back under her mother's control and prepared for a role she never wanted. She has to keep fighting for both skating and the people who stood by her, while knowing that a mistake could put them in danger. Death Drop brings the conflict to the international skating stage and asks whether Luciana can finally break free of the mafia future her mother planned for her.

The series is set in the Devil's Dozen world and includes a few links to Eva Chance's earlier connected stories, but Luciana's arc is complete on its own. It balances criminal-family tension with training, competition, and the quieter routines of rink life. The figure-skating setting is more than a backdrop, because it represents the person Luciana wants to become when she is not being treated as an heir or a weapon.

Start with Shotgun Spin and continue in order. This is a story about escape, identity, chosen family, and the hard work of building a life that is truly your own.
