Crooked Paradise Books in Order

Crooked Paradise is a four-book dark contemporary gang romance centered on Mercy Katz, a young woman whose planned marriage is supposed to secure an alliance between criminal families. Instead, her fiancé has her family slaughtered on the eve of the wedding. Mercy survives, but her old life is gone. With revenge on her mind, she turns to the most powerful and dangerous men in Paradise Bend for help.

Those men are led by Wylder Noble, whose family rules much of the town's criminal world. Wylder and his inner circle are not easy allies, and Mercy has to prove she can stand beside them. She is grieving, angry, and determined not to be treated as someone who needs saving. The attraction between Mercy and the Nobles makes an already risky partnership even harder to manage.

Scorned Princess begins the fight against the man who betrayed Mercy and establishes Paradise Bend as a place where power changes hands through fear, loyalty, and violence. Perilous Lady follows Mercy as she pushes deeper into the battle for her home, only to discover that danger may be coming from inside the Noble circle as well as from her former fiancé's gang.

Mercy doesn't get to walk away from the war.

In Ruthless Queen, a new and more threatening enemy arrives, and Mercy faces pressure from Wylder's father while a stalker raises the stakes. The final book, Lethal Empress, brings the conflict to a crisis point as Mercy and the people she loves have only days to stop a violent threat to Paradise Bend. Each installment continues the same central story, so the series is best read in order.

The setting matters here. Paradise Bend is a small county with its own criminal hierarchy, tight family loyalties, and outsiders eager to exploit a weak spot. The tone is gritty and high-stakes, but Mercy remains the point of view that holds it together. She wants justice for her family, control over her future, and a chance to protect the place she calls home, even when every option asks something painful of her.

This is the first chronological series in the Devil's Dozen world. The later connected series can stand alone, but readers who start here will catch more of the background references and occasional crossover characters. For a revenge-driven story with gang politics, enemies who become allies, and a heroine who refuses to be pushed aside, Crooked Paradise is the natural entry point.
