Series background & context

Angelbound Lincoln retells and expands part of the Angelbound saga through Prince Lincoln’s point of view. On paper, that might sound like a simple companion series. In practice, it does more than replay events. Lincoln sees the after-realms from the inside of thrax culture, which means duty, rank, combat, and political responsibility all hit differently than they do for Myla.

He is a prince first, even when he does not want to be.

At the beginning, Lincoln is the ideal heir to a demon-fighting people. He understands the rules, respects the chain of command, and assumes his life will be shaped by obligation. Then he meets Myla, a quasi girl who should, by everything he has been taught, be the wrong person to love. That tension is the engine of the early books. Lincoln is not only falling hard, he is doing it in direct conflict with the values of his own society.

That makes this series especially good for readers who like seeing the same world from another angle. Myla’s books emphasize defiance and instinct. Lincoln’s emphasize restraint, honor, and the cost of leadership. You get a closer look at the thrax, at how they train, how they govern, and how much of Lincoln’s life is already planned out for him before he makes a single personal choice. His inner voice also softens him in a useful way. He can seem very controlled from the outside. Inside his own head, he is often trying not to panic over Myla.

The companion idea works best because the books do not stop with shared scenes.

Later installments give Lincoln adventures of his own, from battling magical chaos inside Antrum to entering deadly games and dealing with fresh threats to the throne. His marriage to Myla, his role as king, and his growing responsibilities as a father all add weight to the series. The romance stays central, but the books are also about how a man raised to serve tradition learns when that tradition deserves protecting and when it deserves breaking.

If Lincoln is your favorite character in the wider Angelbound world, this series is the obvious next stop. It gives him more room, more humor, more vulnerability, and a fuller sense of what it means to love Myla while trying to keep several realms from falling apart.
