Amber Anthony is the shared pen name of Nancy Reynolds and Rusty Hough Bader. The partnership goes back to 2008, well before the novels arrived. They started out writing scripts, not books, and that background still shows in fiction that likes to move quickly and keep the stakes close at hand.

A shared love of British history helped set the whole thing in motion. After a long day touring Hampton Court in London, they started imagining an immortal from the Tudor era named Maxwell Older. As they developed more scripts, they were coached by D.C. Fontana and Harry Werksman, both seasoned names from film and television.
