Blood-drained bodies, old murder patterns resurfacing, vigilante killings, photo-taunting predators, and interstate dumpsites all fit the series. Even so, the books stay readable because the writing is blunt and efficient. Reinhard is less interested in showing off than in keeping the hunt moving.

If you want the cleanest entry point, start with Drained. It is Hank's first case in the job, so readers learn the shift with him. From there, Consumed, Committed, Judged, Mounted, and Deserted build the core version of the character: capable, stubborn, and always one bad scene away from another plane ride. For readers who like crime fiction that trades one city backdrop for a national chase, this series is probably Reinhard's most direct answer.
