Ye Chun Books in Order

Ye Chun's first English-language poetry collection follows her development as a writer working between Chinese and English. The poems trace an evolving relationship with an adopted language, turning the process of finding words into a record of artistic discovery.

These poems move between native Chinese and adopted English, treating translation as a way of reshaping perception. Attention to place, passing time, and bodily longing connects the poet's movement across languages with changing ways of understanding herself and the world.

Twelve stories follow Chinese women navigating migration, motherhood, racism, and the struggle to make themselves heard. Across China and America, an illiterate mother's drawings, a student's lost speech, and a mother's flight from racial violence reveal language's power and limitations.

Sold after famine devastates her Chinese village, ten-year-old Sixiang reaches America carrying a photograph of her absent father. Her search parallels his struggle as a California railroad worker, revealing family endurance amid exploitation and the violence of the nineteenth-century West.
