Series background & context

Witness is one of Christine Kersey's more direct suspense stories. It is a two-book series, or duet, built around a simple nightmare setup: college student Courtney Hartford witnesses a murder and then realizes she knows who the killer is. From that moment on, her ordinary life is gone.

That clean premise gives the series its speed.

Courtney is not investigating for fun and she is not chasing danger because she wants excitement. She is pulled into it because she has seen something she cannot unsee. Recognition turns her from bystander into target, and the books work from that pressure. Who can she trust? How far will the murderer go to protect himself? What happens when telling the truth puts her directly in the line of fire?

Because the series is only two books long, the story moves with more focus than Kersey's longer romance arcs. The tension comes from pursuit, fear, and fallout. The second book continues the consequences rather than resetting the stakes, which gives the duet a more continuous thriller shape.

Expect a straightforward suspense read with a young woman at the center, escalating danger, and a strong emphasis on survival rather than puzzle-solving. The setup is sharp, the premise is easy to grasp, and the format makes it a good choice if you want Kersey in thriller mode without committing to a long series.
