Series background & context

Witches of Palmetto Point follows psychic witch Charlie Payne, a single mom who can see the dead and would really rather not. She lives in a small coastal town where every old house seems to have a ghost, and every ghost comes with unfinished business.

In Haunting Charlie, that business takes the form of a crumbling southern mansion inherited by Susan Tate. The house needs more repairs than anyone can afford, and it also comes with a very territorial spirit. Charlie steps in to help, using both her medium's gift and the magic she has tried hard to ignore, and discovers that ignoring the dead can be more dangerous than listening to them.

From there the series widens. Each book centers on a new mystery, often involving a violent death or a disappearance that has left spirits restless. In some stories Charlie works closely with Deputy Jason Tate, lending her abilities to police investigations when evidence does not add up. In others she is pulled in by family, by neighbors, or simply by a ghost that refuses to leave her alone.

The threats escalate as the books go on. A vengeful spirit turns a supposed suicide into a murder investigation. A coven retreat in the mountains unearths a young woman's ghost who wants far more than help crossing over. A legendary Blue Lady appears before a hurricane, warning of destruction that may come from both the weather and a human killer. Later cases bring in demon abductions, serial killers with a taste for witches, cursed objects, and visions of children in danger.

Balancing that darkness is Charlie's extended family, a tight circle of cousins and aunts who cook, argue, and practice magic together. They tease her, drag her into coven rituals, and have zero concept of boundaries, but they also close ranks whenever one of their own is threatened. That combination of loving chaos and real fear gives the series its rhythm.

As the story world grows, side characters step into the spotlight. Books like The Kitchen Witch, The Green Witch, and The Glamour Witch follow other women in the Palmetto Point community as they confront abusive magic, stalking, frame jobs, and the ways power can be twisted. Charlie still threads through these stories, but the focus shifts, showing how broad and interconnected this witchy corner of South Carolina has become.

Overall, Witches of Palmetto Point sits in that space between supernatural thriller and paranormal mystery. Expect ghosts and monsters, yes, but also family dinners, sarcastic banter, and a heroine who is learning, book by book, how to live with both her magic and her past.
