Series background & context

Wicked Witches of Spellcaster Creek begins with Sage Rivers losing almost everything in a single day, her job, her boyfriend, and her apartment. Then a calico cat tells her she is a witch and that she has inherited a bookshop in Spellcaster Creek.

There is also a catch. Sage is a book witch, and once her magic wakes up she sees a spirit every time she touches a book.

That magical rule gives this series a strong identity right away. Webb turns the shop into more than a cozy backdrop. The books themselves are part of the problem, part of the clue trail, and part of the fun. Sage wants a fresh start, but the town keeps throwing her into murders, supernatural secrets, and a reluctant partnership with a local guardian named Hunter.

Spellcaster Creek works well if you like a lot of paranormal texture in your cozy mysteries. The town is openly magical, the cases often connect to spells or spirits, and Sage's powers create complications that feel different from the usual inherited-witch setup. At the same time, the series never loses the comfortable rhythm of local businesses, familiar faces, and a sleuth learning how to belong.

If bookshops, ghosts, and witchy mysteries sound like your kind of combination, this is one of Webb's easiest series to binge.
