Toxic City Books in Order

Toxic City is Tim Lebbon's young adult trilogy set in a wrecked, quarantined London two years after a devastating terrorist attack known as Doomsday. To the rest of Britain, the city is supposed to be finished, a poisonous dead zone with nothing left inside. That official story is a lie.

In London Eye, Jack and his friends know there are still survivors inside the ruined capital, and they also know something impossible is happening to them. People are changing. Powers are appearing. The military force guarding the city, the Choppers, is not there to rescue anyone. It is there to control the perimeter, run experiments, and make sure the wrong truths stay buried. That gives the series a strong pressure point right away. The teens are not just exploring ruins. They are moving through a prison and a laboratory at the same time.

The later books keep widening the fallout. Reaper's Legacy deepens the personal stakes around Jack, his father, and the city's frightening new mutations. Contagion turns the countdown tighter still by bringing in the threat of a nuclear strike on top of everything else. So the trilogy keeps its young-adult cast and fast pace, but it does not soften the world much. Ruined neighborhoods, military control, bodily change, and the fear of becoming something unrecognizable all stay in play.

It moves fast, but it is not lightweight.

The best way to think about Toxic City is as post-apocalyptic adventure with superhero and horror currents running underneath. There is friendship, loyalty, and rebellion, but also real damage, both physical and emotional. If you like stories where young characters have to uncover the truth in a city adults have already written off, and where strange powers come with just as much danger as excitement, this is a very good place to start.
