The Wild Wynchesters Books in Order

The Wild Wynchesters books are built around one of Ridley's best premises: a family of adopted siblings, each with unusual talents, using those gifts to help people who have nowhere else to turn. Set in Regency England but driven by caper energy, the series feels part historical romance, part found-family adventure.

The family is the point.

The Wynchesters are not related by blood, and the books never treat that as a lesser bond. They were taken in, protected, and raised together, and that shared loyalty shapes every story. One sibling may be brilliant at disguise, another at intelligence gathering, another at physical daring, another at planning. Their missions let Ridley move beyond ballrooms into alleys, rooftops, secret rooms, and elaborate schemes.

That gives the romances a different flavor from her more conventional Regency series. These books still care about banter, chemistry, and happily-ever-afters, but the couples are also usually racing a clock, exposing a villain, or trying to right some injustice. In The Duke Heist, the job is recovering a stolen painting. In The Perks of Loving a Wallflower, a manuscript and cipher open up a much bigger problem. In Nobody's Princess and My Rogue to Ruin, the family mission keeps pressing right up against the emotional story.

The tone stays warm even when the action speeds up. Ridley clearly enjoys mischief, secret identities, and heroes and heroines who are smarter than the room around them. She also uses the series to broaden what a Regency romance cast can look like. Outsiders, queer love stories, working-class angles, and characters ignored by the usual society machinery all have room here.

Found family does a lot of heavy lifting.

If you want a series where siblings meddle shamelessly, justice matters almost as much as desire, and love stories happen in the middle of thefts, codes, rescues, and rooftop plans, this is the one. Start with The Governess Gambit if you want the setup, or The Duke Heist if you want to jump straight into the main event. Either way, the promise is the same: the Wynchesters may not play by the rules, but they do look after their own.
