Heist Club Books in Order

The Heist Club books take one of Ridley's favorite ingredients, clever people breaking rules for very good reasons, and shrink it down into quick, funny Regency capers. These stories are tied to the Wild Wynchesters world, but they have a lighter, more compact rhythm of their own.

The hook is great.

At the center is a reading circle of bookish, meddling spinsters who are much more capable than polite society expects. They are not hardened criminals or master spies. They are women who read, observe, care about one another, and eventually decide that if the world will not set things right, they may as well have a go themselves. That makes the capers feel playful rather than grim.

The first two installments, The Rake Mistake and The Modiste Mishap, follow women from that circle as small social embarrassments turn into actual crimes. A stolen kiss becomes a stolen jewel. A longed-for gown becomes tangled up with missing valuables and other young women's futures. In both cases, the Wild Wynchesters lend a hand, but the book-club heroines are never passengers in their own stories.

That mix gives the series its tone. These books are full of lists, schemes, reading-circle loyalty, and the kind of determined competence that can only come from women who have spent years being underestimated. The stakes are real, but the atmosphere stays brisk and witty. You get mystery, movement, and romance, just in a shorter package than a full-length series novel.

If you like the idea of bluestockings turning amateur detective, if you enjoy heists that are more charming than brutal, or if you want a quick doorway into the wider Wynchester universe, Heist Club does the job nicely. It is less about the criminal underworld and more about clever women discovering that they are allowed to be the ones who act.
