Series background & context

The Stolen Time books take a fresh premise and run it well. Instead of the usual missing person or murdered executive, the central object is often a rare watch, a luxury timepiece, or another stolen artifact whose history matters almost as much as its price. Former FBI agent Jewel Savage does the investigative work, while watch expert Henry Bevel provides the specialist knowledge that makes the cases more than simple recovery jobs.

That partnership gives the series its personality. Jewel brings field instinct, persistence, and a law-enforcement background. Henry brings a collector's eye and a more technical way of seeing what makes one object worth killing for. Together they move through auctions, private collections, black markets, and the strange subculture built around timekeeping and status.

The result is part mystery, part heist-adjacent thriller. The missing watch is never just a watch for long. It becomes a key to greed, obsession, fraud, and sometimes a much larger criminal plan. If you want Ames doing something a little more specialized without losing pace, Stolen Time is a strong pick.
