The Spitfire Society Books in Order

The Spitfire Society sits inside the world of The Untouchables, but it shifts the focus in a satisfying way. Instead of centering the most powerful men in the room, these books spend their time with women who are smart, independent, and not terribly interested in obeying the roles Society has assigned them.

That gives the trilogy its spark.

The women here are not waiting to be rescued. They have opinions, plans, financial worries, family pressures, and a clear sense that marriage is not always the answer. Some have already seen enough of Society to distrust its rules. Others are simply tired of being told what kind of future they ought to want. When romance arrives, it has to make room for all of that.

The men, of course, complicate matters. Dukes and other high-ranking heroes appear with titles, expectations, and their own problems, but these books work because the heroines never disappear inside those stories. Burke keeps the balance pointed in the right direction. Attraction matters, but so do autonomy, friendship, and the right to choose a life for yourself.

Because the series is short, it reads quickly. It also benefits from the larger Untouchables world without requiring a massive commitment. You get the glamour of the ton, the connected characters, and the emotional sweep, but in a tighter run of books.

Start with Never Have I Ever With a Duke, then continue to A Duke is Never Enough and A Duke Will Never Do. If you like historical romance with lively heroines, social resistance, and the sense that love has to be earned rather than assumed, The Spitfire Society is a very good fit.
