The Shattered Soul Books in Order

The Shattered Soul series answers a question that hangs over the Lumineia books, what happens when a being like Draeken, the Lord of Chaos, is too powerful for even death to contain. In this case his soul splits apart, leaving behind living fragments that each hold one slice of his magic and personality.

Raised by the Hauntress, a fearsome guardian figure, the fragments grow up as brothers who serve in secret. Water, Shadow, Light, Fire, and Mind travel the world putting down threats long before most kings realize danger exists, stepping in quietly and vanishing again between ages.

The calm does not last, because an ancient enemy thought extinct, the krey, has returned to Lumineia with imperial ambitions of its own.

In The Fragment of Water the brothers send Water north with an Eternal companion to track the krey and instead uncover the Order of Ancients, a hidden organization with agents buried among thieves, assassins, and even ruling families. The Fragment of Shadow follows Shadow as he hunts Relgor, a brilliant krey prince whose ambitions could turn the fragments into someone else’s weapons.

The Fragment of Light leans into infiltration, with Light wearing Serak’s face to walk straight into the Order’s strongholds, aided by Willow, a dark elf soldier whose tattoo magic is as dangerous as any spell. Later books push Fire and Mind into ever more complicated battles, from ruined towers to royal courts, as they chase krey warlords and rescue stolen monarchs.

Everything builds toward The Fragment of Power, where the brothers finally confront the truth that the most dangerous part of Draeken still lives inside them. As armies of trolls, dakorians, dragons, and humans gather, the series becomes a story about family as much as fate, with their mother Elenyr determined to protect her sons even if it means walking into the teeth of the Great Draeken War.
